The combatants are rejoicing over a mass killing that humanitarian officials suspect claimed the lives of over two thousand people in the Sudanese urban center of the Darfur city in recent weeks.

An Urban Center Cut Off from the Globe

After maintaining the city under encirclement for nearly 24 months, from the summer the paramilitary force moved to consolidate its dominance and prevent access for the leftover civilian population.
