Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot lamented known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
