A Devastating Incident Reiner was located lifeless with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, at their home in Los Angeles at the weekend. “How we will long for this man…” Ryan shared on Instagram, next to an image of them together. “We thank you, Rob and Michele, for your belief in true love, fairy tales, and laughter. Thank you for your faith in the best in people, and for your profound love of our country.” Court Case Developments Reiner’s son Nick, 32, is accused of two counts of first-degree murder and was in court today. He’s being detained without the option of bail. Reports indicate that Reiner’s daughter Romy found her father’s body. “I have to believe that their story will not end with this impossible tragedy, that some good may come, some awareness raised,” Ryan continued. “While uncertain, I suspect they'd wish for a hopeful, compassionate outcome that fosters mutual understanding and peace.” Children Share Their Grief Reiner’s surviving children Jake and Romy released a message today. “No words can convey the constant, profound sorrow we feel,” they said. “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.” Colleagues and Friends Remember Ryan’s co-star, Billy Crystal, joined in remembering Reiner with a statement shared yesterday alongside tributes from Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks. “No one matched his comic instinct, his dedication to rhythmic dialogue, or his elegant sharpening of drama,” it read. “He cherished performers and improved scribes. His finest trait was granting creative liberty. He valued input and made you part of the team. They always felt they were working as a team. To be in his hands as a film-maker was a privilege but that is only part of his legacy.” A Storied Career When Harry Met Sally was a box office and critical triumph in 1989, making over $93m at the box office and scoring Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay.
